MP sizebase
MPsizeBase: An online database for microplastic concentration and size distribution in support of the UNEP Treaty on Plastics.
The CNRS MPSizeBase is an academic initiative to compile peer-reviewed scientific observations of microplastic (MP) particle size distribution (PSD) and concentration in Earth surface environments. MPSizeBase is aimed to support the UNEP Plastics Treaty Secretariat and all Nations in the implementation of the Plastic Treaty and the activity related to the Effectiveness Evaluation and Global Monitoring framework.
MPsizeBase has multiple objectives:
- Organize peer-reviewed MP and particle size distribution (PSD) data in air, water, sediment, biota and soil into a single online open access database.
- Share MP and PSD data interpretation concepts, notably data intercomparison, extrapolation beyond observed MP size, and size to mass conversion of a PSD.
